Tweetbot Suffers Outage After Targeted Data Limit
- 19-01-2023
Twitter users have experienced a disruption in service as a result of an outage that has locked them out of major third-party Twitter clients, including Tweetbot. The issue has been described as a “data limit” error message which prevents users from posting anything to Twitter. Now, users report that they can’t even sign in to the service.
Tweetbot co-creator Paul Haddad has expressed his frustrations on the matter, claiming that the outage appears to be intentional. Haddad believes that old, unused API keys have been specifically targeted. This indicates that there was no communication about the outage, which is why Haddad had to swap out the keys in the first place.
The outage has affected users in a variety of ways. Many users have reported that they can only view tweets, not post anything. Furthermore, some users have been completely locked out of their accounts and unable to sign in at all.
There has been no official statement from Twitter about the outage and what is being done to rectify the issue. This has left users frustrated and without any answers.
