- 25-11-2024
Exciting developments are underway in the gaming world as actors and creators come together for fresh ventures. A key highlight is the collaboration between well-known voice actor Troy Baker and Neil Druckmann at Naughty Dog, signaling an intriguing upcoming project.
Actor Troy Baker has been confirmed to take part in the upcoming, unnamed game from Naughty Dog. This renowned studio, under the direction of Neil Druckmann, who is celebrated for his work on titles like Uncharted and The Last of Us, is developing a single-player experience. Although details about this project remain scarce, reports indicate that Baker’s involvement has been secured.
Neil Druckmann has expressed his enthusiasm for working with Baker, emphasizing his strong desire to partner with the actor. Baker is widely recognized for providing the voice for Joel in the series The Last of Us, having collaborated with Druckmann for many years, enhancing the rapport between them.
Last December, Naughty Dog made the difficult decision to cancel The Last of Us Online, an ambitious attempt to create a live service variant of the popular franchise. The studio stated that diverting all resources to ongoing content would hinder its capability to develop future single-player titles effectively. Following this, Naughty Dog confirmed its commitment to crafting multiple new single-player experiences, although specific details about these projects remain undisclosed.
In a recent statement, Druckmann mentioned that the studio aims to diversify its portfolio beyond the successful Last of Us series. With conviction, he stated that Naughty Dog will not be forever known solely for this franchise, which first captivated audiences in 2013 and saw its sequel released in 2020. Additionally, while Naughty Dog is also recognized for the Uncharted series, this chapter concluded with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in 2016 and the subsequent title, The Lost Legacy, a year later.
Looking ahead, Baker has further roles lined up, including portraying Indiana Jones in MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. Following that, he will feature in Ken Levine’s Judas, following his previous performance as Booker DeWitt in Bioshock: Infinite. Meanwhile, fans can anticipate the second season of HBO's acclaimed The Last of Us, scheduled to premiere in spring 2025.
