Striking Distance Studios Faces Job Cuts Amidst Ongoing Development Support

The gaming industry has been facing challenges recently, and Striking Distance Studios is no exception. The team behind the 2022 survival horror title has announced further job cuts, following an earlier round of reductions in August 2023, shortly after launching the game's first downloadable content.

Reports of these layoffs emerged through updates on LinkedIn, where one employee indicated that a significant portion of the development team was affected. However, Striking Distance has stated that it is still operational and insists that these job reductions will not hinder any of its ongoing projects.

A studio representative mentioned the necessity of streamlining the workforce to maintain flexibility, which is essential for a sustainable operational model at this stage of development. They affirmed that the studio continues to function and that the recent adjustments will not affect any scheduled support or initiatives. Currently, no additional changes are anticipated.

Despite optimistic expectations for the year ahead, the trend of layoffs within the gaming sector appears set to continue into 2025, mirroring the patterns observed in 2023 and 2024.
