Minecraft 1.20 Theme, New Mobs, and Bamboo Blocks
- 24-10-2022
From what is known so far, the 2023 Minecraft update should be focused on the themes of expressing yourself, being creative, and finding motivation within. In light of this, it is understandable why the few features Mojang did reveal were mostly centered around constructing: chiseled bookshelf blocks that allow storing any books, including enchanted ones; bamboo wood blocks for making doors, plates, stairs, rafts, and more; hanging sings that enhance the current capabilities of existing sign blocks.
Here is more about how each new type of block might be used:
- Hanging-sign blocks: New decoration elements that can be attached to the side of a block, placed underneath a small block, or hung below a full block.
- Bamboo wood blocks: A set of brand-new blocks to be used for making unique build patterns. Bamboo blocks do not spawn naturally like other types of wood and are created using pieces of bamboo already presented in the game. Players can use the new wood type to produce items like rafts, trapdoors, signs, fence gates, slabs, pressure plates, and buttons.
- Chiseled bookshelf blocks: A decorative block type used to build a fully functional bookshelf with room for up to six books. The functionality of such blocks extends beyond just decoration as they also can be used to activate redstone-related stuff.
On the adventure front, the update is to bring an all-new mob, the Camel. It might or might not be an alternative to the game’s current transportation choice, which is horses. Unlike horses, however, camels have room for two people on their backs and can dash across dangerous areas. Camels are only found in the desert biome, dwelling in desert villages.
The second new mob of the two to appear in Minecraft 1.20 update is the Sniffer mob. Sniffer is a turtle-like long-extinct overworld creature whose eggs players are to locate. When revived, sniffers can snoop about for new seeds and plants. The mob was voted the winner among the three contestants that also included Rascal and Tuff Golem.
Minecraft 1.20 New Default Character Skins
To give Minecraft fans new ways of self-expression in the game, Mojang is bringing in seven new default characters, whose appearance should match a variety of ethnic groups. If you seek even more diversity in how you are represented in the game, you can use the Dressing Room to craft your own personalized characters or download skins designed by other players.
Fan-Made Rumors
Even though the 1.20 release date is still unknown, the Minecraft fan community is bursting with ideas as to what later updates can be like. Thus, there are make-up stories about the two other updates being prepared for release: 1.24-The Mythical Update (December 2022) and 1.25-Update Nautilus scheduled for April 2023. While it is exciting to read about, the author of this post calls upon everyone to keep it cool, stay realistic in their expectations, and only trust the official statements made by Mojang Studios.
