- 20-08-2024
The gaming community is abuzz with speculation regarding the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. While we were disappointed to learn that Nintendo will not be participating in Gamescom 2024, which means we won't witness the official announcement of their new console there, excitement remains high. It has been confirmed that the launch will occur in the current fiscal year, although it won't happen before April 2025. Consequently, Nintendo is likely prepping to fill warehouses globally in anticipation of a significant demand surge.
Full-scale production is rumored to commence soon, particularly in October, as indicated by the CEO of Weltrend, a Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer collaborating with console makers. In his recent financial updates, he shared insights that orders tied to video game consoles would see an increase in the third quarter, which will include the first shipments for both the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox models, along with the fresh Nintendo Switch variants.
The third quarter of the fiscal year begins in October, establishing a timeline for when production and distribution will ramp up. In addition, it has become commonly known that Sony is developing a PS5 Pro, intended for launch around Christmas, while the Xbox Series will also introduce new models featuring enhanced storage capabilities and limited editions this fall. This raises intriguing questions about the potential unveiling of the new Switch models. When might the gaming world get its first look at the Nintendo Switch 2?
